Medicare Now Covering Diabetes Prevention Program

Protect Yourself, Tell Family and Friends about New Diabetes Prevention Program

Medicare recently began coverage of the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) for Medicare beneficiaries at risk of Type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately, not many people know about the new program and how it can benefit their health and prevent diabetes. (Read more at New Medicare Perk For Diabetes Prevention Stumbles At Rollout, Kaiser Health News, April 19, 2018) Please find out if you are at risk and let your friends and loved ones know about the DPP. It can change your life and theirs. Do you know your risk for diabetes? Take the risk test. Go to to find out. If you are at risk for pre-diabetes or have been told you have pre-diabetes, look for the DPP near you.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is removing Social Security Numbers from Medicare cards to prevent fraud, fight identity theft, and keep taxpayer dollars safe. New cards are being mailed to each beneficiary.

In the TMF region, Medicare is currently mailing new cards in Texas and New Mexico. Please keep an eye out for your new card in the mail.

For Medicare beneficiaries in Oklahoma and Arkansas, you should have already received your new cards. If not, please call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) and Medicare will verify your identity and address, and help you get your new card.
