The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is removing Social Security Numbers from Medicare cards to prevent fraud, fight identity theft, and keep taxpayer dollars safe. New cards are being mailed to each beneficiary. In the TMF region, Medicare is currently mailing new cards in Texas and New Mexico. Please keep an eye out for your new card in the mail. For Medicare beneficiaries in Oklahoma and Arkansas, you should have already received your new cards. If not, please call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) and Medicare will verify your identity and address, and help you get your new card.

KEPRO is one of the Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations, working to improve the quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries. This site offers beneficiary and family-centered care information for providers, patients, and families. A Medicare beneficiary has the right to appeal a hospital discharge if he or she feels too sick to leave or if he or she does not agree with the decision that skilled services will be stopped. The beneficiary must be given a letter with the planned discharge date explaining how to appeal. A Medicare beneficiary can do this even if he or she is in a health maintenance organization (HMO).
